Spellman to Stonehill

New England Recruiting Report | Friday, May 8th, 2015

Worcester Academy produced their second division II commitment in as many days on Friday when Jeff Spellman accepted a scholarship offer from Stonehill College.

Spellman has had a decorated high school career, first at Beaver Country Day, where he graduated from last spring, and most recently during his post-graduate season with Worcester Academy.

He also starred with the Middlesex Magic on the AAU circuit, playing especially well during last summer's July evaluation period and being a critical component of the Magic's run to the Summer Classic East championship.

“Jeff Spellman is one of the most talented guards to wear a Magic uniform” Magic program director Michael Crotty Jr. said. “Jeff is a combo guard who had great success last spring/summer playing both the point guard and shooting guard position.  He has a terrific shooting stroke from 3, a deadly pull-up jump shot, and tremendous athletic ability that allows him to slash and finish high above the rim.”

Spellman is the 16th player from the Middlesex Magic program to commit to play college basketball in the 2014 class. He joins Isaiah McLeod (Southern Connecticut) and Stony Brook transfer Chris Braley (St. Anselm) as Magic players who will join the NE-10 next season.

“Our program has had a number of successful players in the NE-10 conference over the past 10-15 years,” Crotty said, “and I believe that Jeff has the potential to have an outstanding 4-year career in this conference.”
