Spellman Calls it for Villanova
New England's top ranked junior, MacDuffie School power forward Omari Spellman, made a verbal commitment to Villanova on Friday.
The news was first reported by ESPN.com.
Spellman, who attended North Royalton High School in Ohio last year, is in his first season in New England but made plenty of appearances in New England prior to this year with his PSA Cardinals AAU team.
Spellman has taken multiple unofficial visits to Villanova's campus including a trip to their Midnight Madness event in October and most recently, a trip with his mother to see the Wildcats play Georgetown.
While Spellman said that he knew during that visit that Villanova was where he wanted to be, he waited until Friday to announce his commitment since it was his mother's birthday.
"I'd just like to thank my mom, David Gates and the entire PSA family, Jacques Vaughn and everyone at the MacDuffie School and everyone who has helped me get to this point," Spellman said.
