South Kent Swingman Announces for Xavier
Kamall Richards committed to Xavier on Tuesday, announcing his decision live with Adam Zagoria in the SNY studios.
“I’ll be going to Cincinnati to play for Xavier,” Richards said in front of the cameras.
Richards came to South Kent by way of St. Benedict's in New Jersey, where he previously starred before opting for his post-graduate year.
“I decided on Xavier because it’s the best fit for me," he continued. "I’ll be able to come in right away, be an impact player and that’s what I need as a freshman to be able to make mistakes and not be penalized and play through my mistakes and get better.”
On the AAU circuit, Richards ran with We R 1 and emerged as one of the northeast region's biggest stock risers following the April live period.
“Kamall isn’t the same player he was a year ago at St. Benedict’s and he’s not the same player he was when he first arrived at South Kent on September 5th,” South Kent head coach Kelvin Jefferson said. “With his toughness and his desire to get better, he’s only going to continue to improve.”
Richards joins A.J. Edwards (Yale) to become the second South Kent product to commit in the class of 2013.
