Kevin Smith 2017

South Kent School guard Kevin Smith committed to division II Pace University earlier this week.

His decision punctuates what has been one of the better individual stories in prep school basketball this year.

Originally from Hamden (CT), Smith first appeared at the prep level at Putnam Science Academy, where he struggled to compete with the program's top players.

He transferred to the South Kent School for his senior season and right away it was clear that his game had gone to another level. Smith was a standout in the fall open gyms and exceeded expectations by playing his way into the team's rotation when the season began. That was just the tip of the iceberg though as he went on to establish himself as one of the team's best two-way playerss and earn All-NEPSAC honorable mention in Class AAA.

Along the way, Smith earned scholarship offers at both the division I and II levels and also proved himself to be one of the most improved players in New England.

Below are some of his senior highlights care of Brass City Films.
