Shittu is a McDonald’s All-American
Vermont Academy forward Simisola Shittu was one of 24 high school seniors from around the country to be named McDonald's All-Americans on Tuesday afternoon.
The announcements were made on ESPN's The Jump.
Shittu is the first McDonald's All-American selected from the New England region since 2013 when both Noah Vonleh and Wayne Selden were selected for the nation's most prestigious all-star game.
McDonald's does not consider any fifth year players eligible for the game and so Shittu was the only eligible candidate among New England's concensus top 100 ranked prospects.
Shittu and future teammate Darius Garland are also the first two Vanderbilt signees to ever be selected for the game. He is also one of two Canadian natives to be selected for the game along with R.J. Barrett.
Shittu averaged 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists for CIA Bounce in the recent EYBL season.
