Joe Sherburne 2015

Wednesday night was doubly sweet for Brewster Academy forward Joe Sherburne.

Not only did he score 16 points off the bench to help the Bobcats to their second consecutive National Prep Championship, but only about an hour after the win he achieved his dream of playing division I basketball with a commitment to UMBC.

Later that night, he confirmed his commitment via twitter:

Sherburne didn't have a reputation as a division I prospect when he first arrived at Brewster Academy this fall. A top-notch student with extremely high grades and test scores alike, he was widely pursued by a variety of top academic small schools, but exceeded expectations on the hardwood from day one of the fall open gym season and continued to produce once the season started.

The Wisconsin native was one of the Bobcats top three scorers a month into the season and continued to establish himself as one of the best available three-point shooters in the second semestar. UMBC offered earlier in the winter but were on hand to watch him this week in Connecticut as Sherburne once again came off the bench to make a big impact and help Brewster Academy win their latest championship in the process.
