Sharma Taking Early Official

Northfield Mount Hermon and Mass Rivals big man Josh Sharma is taking advantage of a new NCAA rule allowing players to take official visits during their junior year.  The seven-footer traveled to the University of Wisconsin on Saturday, in the first weekend allowed per NCAA rules.

Sharma is in the midst of a breakout junior year at Northfield Mount Hermon after a successful summer on the grassroots circuit.  He’s scored in double figures and grabbed at least six rebounds in five of his seven games this season while also dropping 33 against the Harvard J.V. team.

Most recently, Sharma scored 10 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and blocked 9 shots in a game against Thornlea Secondary in which Wisconsin assistant coach Gary Close was in the stands.

Wisconsin, who is currently the 4th ranked team in the country, has been recruiting Sharma particularly hard in recent months along with the likes of Vanderbilt, Illinois, and Connecticut.

He holds additional offers from Boston College, Davidson, Kansas State, Maryland, Oklahoma State, and Providence while having also heard from Indiana and Gonzaga within the last week.
