SCA’s Odukale Pledges to Pitt

Springfield Commonwealth's Femi Odukale announced his verbal commitment to Pittsburgh aon Tuesday night.

His decision punctuates what has been a fantastic post-graduate season for the New York native.

Odukale previously starred at South Shore High School in Brooklyn where he was a long and athletic wing with mid-major recruitment.

This season though, both his game and recruitment grew significantly. The acension was rooted in the opportunity to play with the ball in his hands for the first time as Odukale slid over to the point under head coach Nick Couluris this season.

He went on to average 17.5 points, 8.8 assists, 8.2 rebounds, 2.7 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game for while shooting 52% from the floor and 39% from behind the arc, all while leading SCA to a 30-7 record, a Power 5 Conference championship, and spot in the quarterfinals of the National Prep Championship.

"As a young man, the adversity that this kid has faced, and the masses that told him what he wasn't; Femi was able to overcome all of that and just stay focused on him, his family and his goals," Couluris said. "The kid is beyond special. Pitt got a great one today. Pro-style game, that projects at that level."

Pitt was just one of several high-major programs to jump into Odukale's recruitment this winter as he added other offers from the likes of Seton Hall, Virginia Tech, DePaul, and Washington State among others.

He is the fourth player, and first guard, to commit to Jeff Capel in the class of 2020 as he joins Our Saviour Lutheran (NY) big man Max Amadasun, Brush (OH) High School big man John Hugley, and Westtown (PA) forward Noah Collier.
