Ryan Picks Stanford

Milton Academy guard Cormac Ryan announced his verbal commitment to Stanford University on Sunday night via his instagram account.

Ryan grew up in New York City and made his first appearance in New England at the 2014 Elite 75 Showcase - Frosh/Soph Edition. He returned the following June for the Stars of Tomorrow Camp, joined the Middlesex Magic for the ensuing July live period, and picked up his first divisioin I offers shortly after.

He arrived at Milton Academy in September of 2015 and by the time his sophomore season was over he had started to assert himself as one of the best 2018 prospects in New England. Last spring, he took his game to unprecedented levels with the Middlesex Magic, racked up high-major offers in bunches, and made his debut in the ESPN 60.

Instead of continuing to collect high-major offers though, Ryan made it clear early on in his process that academics would play a major part in his decision making process and zeroed in on schools like Stanford, Northwestern, Yale, Michigan, and Villanova.

After a junior season in which he averaged 19 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game while being named NEPSAC Class A Co-Player of the Year, Ryan joined the New York Rens and tested his talent on the Nike EYBL circuit where he has solidified himself as one of the nation's best guards.

His decision to attend Stanford provides the Cardinals with a big combo-guard who has both an outstanding feel for the game as well as a versatile skill set. He's been a playmaker off the bounce to this point in his career but projects as more of a shooter and ball-mover at the next level. He has the ability to play both on and off the ball, is an outstanding rebounding guard, and tremendous passer.

Below are some of his his highlights from the last year.
