Risch Heading to AIC

Following his graduation from Old Rochester High School in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts last year, Max Risch opted for a post-graduate season in order to spark his recruitment.

Now a year later, that plan seems to have worked as Risch recently accepted a full scholarship offer from nearby American International College.

The versatile six-foot-six forward ran with the Boston Warriors during last year’s AAU circuit and averaged 16 points and 9 rebounds this season for Williston.

“He is a very dedicated young man who has a ton of potential at the next level,” Williston Northampton head coach Mike Athas said.  “He’s unique as a six-foot-six wing player who can defend the post.”

That unique versatility was a major part of Athas’ appeal at the scholarship level as he’ll have the potential to create match-up problems while playing several different positions.

“Max has a tremendous work ethic and will be a solid addition to coach Art Luptowski’s team next year,” Athas said, noting that Risch planned to major in nursing at AIC.
