Report: Daoust to Columbia
North Pole Hoops is reporting that Canadian native and Hotchkiss senior Noah Daoust has made a verbal commitment to Columbia.
Daoust is now in his third season in the NEPSAC after arriving at Hotchkiss as a sophomore.
He emerged as one of the top big men in Class A last year as a junior and followed that up with a strong summer on the AAU circuit with Brookwood Elite, a Canadian based squad that made waves at the Hoop Group Summer Jam Fest in the middle of the month.
Daoust visited Columbia unofficially the weekend before his commitment and reportedly made his decision less than five days later.
A highly skilled and deceptively mobile big man with soft hands, Daoust is naturally talented and highly versatile.
He becomes the third NEPSAC product to commit to Columbia in the last two years joining incoming freshman Jeff Coby (Choate Rosemary Hall) and Kendall Jackson (Suffield ACademy) and is also the third Canadian native to commit to Lions' head coach Kyle Smith in as many years.
Daoust becomes the second member of this year's Hotchkiss team to commit to an Ivy League school, joining point guard Makai Mason who pledged to Yale earlier this summer.
