Reece Brown Calls It
Loomis Chaffee senior forward Reece Brown announced his verbal commitment to UNLV over the weekend.
Brown, who played for the City Rocks during the EYBL regular season before joining New Heights for the summer, had picked up a handful of high-major scholarship offers in recent months before focusing his recruitment on just three schools in UNLV, Elon, and Rice.
"We're so happy for Reece and his family," Loomis coach Rock Battistoni said. "He has come such a long way and what is scary is that he is only getting better. He averaged less than two points and two rebounds per game as a repeat sophomore but saw how hard Jaiden Delaire and Nelson Boachie-Yiadom worked and as a junior averaged over 10 points, 5 rebounds, and almost two blocks per game."
His commitment gives UNLV a high-upside forward and high-level athlete who is beginning to develop his skill-set and is still just scratching the surface of his potential.
"UNLV is getting an elite athlete with incredible ability to finish above the rim, an improved shot-maker extended to three, and a diligent worker who is mindful of what he needs to do to take his game to the next level. Off the court, Reece is a high character young man who has been a student-leader on campus."
He becomes the third member of Loomis' 2020 class to accept a full athletic scholarship in recent weeks.
