Recruiting Round-Up

It's been a busy few weeks on the recruiting wire across New England and NERR contributor Zack Sandberg has the 411 on all the latest happenings:

The Belmont Hill duo of David Mitchell and Jovan Jones picked up their first offers from Boston University after Terriers head coach Joe Jones watched them play on Friday.

Classical Junior David Duke picked up his first and second offers from Brown and Bryant just moments after leading his team to the Division 1 championship. Creighton and UMass have both watched him at Classical in the days since and Duke also took in Providence's game this week as well.

Speaking of Creighton, assistant coach Preston Murphy made the most of his return to New England. He watched Tremont Waters as South Kent knocked off Bridgton in the opening round of the NEPSAC and then checked in on Hamidou Diallo at Putnam Science Academy.

Davidson head coach Bob McKillop was at New Hampton's game at St. Thomas More last week and extended an offer to 2017 PG Kristers Zoriks the following day. While the offer is believed to be Zoriks first, he recently took an unofficial visit to San Francisco and also has early attention from Wisconsin and Nebraska.

Another junior point guard, Putnam Science Academy's Jaheem Cornwall added an offer from St. Francis (NY), who join fellow NEC schools Robert Morris and LIU.

Worcester Academy post-graduate point guard Nassir Barrino picked up an offer from San Diego and is planning a trip out west for an official visit beginning on Wednesday of next week.

Hotchkiss post grad Elijah Bailey had a busy week, first picking up an offer from the University of New Haven, he then visited Pace University over the weekend and was subsequently offered by them as well.

NJIT was on hand at the Canterbury vs Millbrook game to watch post grad guard DeAnte Bruton and senior wing Shawn Montague.

The University of Virginia was in Rhode Island wednesday watching sophomore Cole Swider and junior Aaron Wheeler as St. Andrew's opened the post-season with a quarterfinal win over Tilton. A day later, Swider and Wheeler were both on Rhode Island's campus for their game against UMass.

Villanova came up to New England to watch Cushing duo Makai Ashton-Langford and Wabissa Bede. The 2017 duo also picked up offers from VCU earlier in the week while Temple head coach Fran Dunphry made the trip to New England to watch Bede and Jarrod Simmons.

Speaking of Villanova, they made the most of their day in New England as head coach Jay Wright watched Jermaine Samuels and the Rivers School make short work of their play-off opener while associate head coach Baker Dunleavy watched Vermont Academy junior Christian David.

David had a couple of suitors for Vermont Academy's opener against KUA as Syracuse was also in the building to check him out.

Middlesex Magic and Milton Academy sophomore Cormac Ryan received an offer from Boston College after Eagles' head coach Jim Christian watched him workout on Wednesday afternoon.

Columbia, Dartmouth and Middlebury were in attendance for the Hyde(CT) vs Greens Farms Academy game.

East Catholic (CT) junior guard Mike McGuirl picked up an offer from the University of Hartford recently. The Hawks join Sacred Heart to become McGuirl's second offer.
