Recruiting Period Tips This Week

The July evaluation period, often known as the July live  period, tips this week on Wednesday at 5pm.

The evaluation marks the first time since April that division I coaches can watch perspective student athletes at non-scholastic events including grassroots team events and showcases.

In New England, that means a few things:

1. The region's five sneaker sponsored programs will all be headed to the southeast region this week for the championships of their respective leagues. BABC and Expressions are both on there way to North Augusta, South Carolina for the EYBL Finals at the Nike Peach Jam. The New England Playaz and Mass Rivals will be in Spartanburg, South Carolina for the Adidas Gauntlet Finale. The Connecticut Basketball Club will be in Atlanta, Georgia for the Under Armour Association Finals.

2. A couple other local teams will take part in these, or other associated, shoe events as well. The Boston Bobcats 9th grade team received a big to the UAA Finals while Wright Way Skills will be competing as a 10th grade team in Nike's sister event to the Peach Jam, the Peach Invitational Tournament, located in Augusta, Georgia. Expressions' 10th grade south program will also take part in the PIT tournament.

3. New England's only NCAA sanctioned camp, the All-Academic Camp, will tip on Tuesday from Brandeis University. Well over 100 college coaches  are again expected to be in attendance this year along with top academic college prospects from around the country and the New England Recruiting Report will again have live coverage of the event.

4. Some local prospects - including players from Metro Boston, D.C. Blue Devils, and Boston Warriors among others - will travel to Reading, Pennsylvania for session I of the Hoop Group Elite Camp.

5. On Thursday and Friday, Zero Gravity will be hosting their first annual Adidas Select Series Elite 8 on the heels of the All-Academic Camp at Brandeis University. The event will feature the likes of Middlesex Magic, Mass Rivals Select, Evo Elite, Rhode Island Elite and others.

6. BasketBull will host their first event of July, The Summer Championships, from Friday to Sunday. That field includes local programs like the Magic, D.C. Blue Devils, Stamford Peace, and many more.
