Quinnipiac for Floras
MacDuffie School senior guard Dimitri Floras announced a verbal commitment for Quinnipiac on Friday morning at an all-school assembly. He spoke to the New England Recruiting Report shortly afterward:
“They stuck with me through my whole recruiting process,” Floras said. “They’ve pretty much been with me for two years now.”
The amount of time that Quinnipiac invested in Floras not only convinced him of how serious they were about him but also allowed him to develop a good relationship with their coaching staff.
“I just had a good feeling about Coach Moore, Coach Burrell, and all the assistants that I got to know real well,” he said.
MacDuffie is a New Hampshire native who developed a reputation for being able to make big shots and score the ball early in his career, but has worked to develop into more of a traditional point guard in recent years.
He hopes to continue that process next season at Quinnipiac, who begins their first season in the MAAC this year after moving over from the Northeast Conference.
“I know that my freshman year when I get there I’ll have a chance to get a lot of minutes and have the opportunity to lead them right away as a freshman,” he said.
Floras ran with Expressions Elite on this spring and summer’s grassroots and EYBL circuits. He is the sixth and final member of the team’s senior class to make his decision joining Abdul-Malik Abu (N.C. State), Jared Terrell (Oklahoma State), Idris Taqqee (St. Bonaventure), Alec Brennan (Princeton), Cane Broome (Sacred Heart), and Dimitri Floras (Quinnipiac).
