Prep Star Headed to Ohio

Stacey Waters arrived at Ohio University on Wednesday for his official visit.  Despite the fact that he planned to be there until Friday, he didn’t want to waste any time as he quickly commitment to the Bobcats.

“I felt right at home as soon as I arrived on campus,” said Waters.

Waters also has a longstanding relationship with Assistant Coach Bacari Alexander that helped to seal the deal.

Prior to arriving at Ohio earlier this season, Alexander had spent the previous six years as an assistant coach at the University of Detroit.  It was there that he first learned of, and actually began to recruit, the Detroit native.

“I have a very close relationship with Coach Alexander,” Waters said, “and that was a big part of my decision.”

With Alexander moving on to Ohio, and Waters choosing to do a post-graduate year at Bridgton Academy it seemed the stars were aligned for everything to work out.

Waters solidified his reputation as a scorer this season at Bridgton, and that is something that the Bobcats will look for him to continue to do next year.

“They [the coaching staff] said I would be part of a three guard rotation, and they were looking for me to come in and score the ball.”

That is certainly something he is capable of doing as he has a quick first step that allows him to create his own shot at virtually anytime, along with the ability to get hot from behind the three-point line.
