Prep Bound

This is the time of year when the list of players who claim they are headed to prep school next year is inevitably larger than the list that will actually arrive there in September. Accordingly, the New England Recruiting Report has always made it a policy never to publish prep school commitments until they can be officially verified. With that in mind, here's a look at the early list:

  • St. Andrew's senior big man Terrell Brown will graduate this spring before heading to Tilton School for a post-graduate year. Currently a young senior, Brown is in the midst of a breakout spring with the BABC coming off a huge second session of EYBL in Indianapolis. Brown is currently averaging 12.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game according to D1 Circuit and is the 4th leading shot-blocker in the EYBL at 2.8/game. BABC has a record of 4-3 heading into this weekend's third session in Virginia.
  • Another BABC product, 2018 point guard Shandon Brown, will be transferring from Beaver Country Day School to New Hampton School at the end of the year but will not be reclassifying. Brown will be following in the footsteps of his father, Shawn Brown Sr, who did a post-graduate year at New Hampton before starring at Merrimack from 1996-2000.
  • Nick Casiano will be transferring from Rocky Hill High School to Kingswood-Oxford School and reclassifying to 2018. Casiano put up huge numbers this season for Rocky Hill, earning 2nd Team All-State honors in Class M of the CIAC. This spring he's running with Connecticut Elite on the AAU circuit.
  • Earlier this spring, it was confirmed that Matt Hanna would be doing a post-graduate year at Vermont Academy following his graduation from Catholic Memorial. Now, we know the defending Class AA champions will add another post-graduate in Jordan Nwora, the 6-foot-7 forward who stars for New York Rens in the EYBL and has been adding high-major offers at a rapid rate in recent weeks.
  • Putnam Science Academy announced two new additions to their program this week. The first is Tanahj Pettway, who will be transferring from Central Catholic High School in Massachusetts and reclassifying to 2019. A starter from day one of his freshman year, the six-foot guard is coming off a decorated sophomore season that included the MVP of the Commonwealth Christmas Classic and a spot on the MVC All-Conference Team. Also joining the program is Nate Patenaude, who will graduate from Smithfield High School in Rhode Island next month before enrolling at PSA as a post-graduate.
