O’Shea Trims List; Taking Visits

The New England Recruiting Report got a chance to catch up with Burlington High School’s Joe OShea at last Sunday’s Vermont College Showcase.

Despite the fact that division I college coaches weren’t permitted to attend the event, O’Shea still came out to play with the rest of the best players in the state of Vermont, and demonstrated why he is unquestionably the best player in the Green Mountain state this year.

Following his last game of the night, we got a chance to briefly catch-up with the six-foot-four swingman to get an update on his recruitment.

“I’m going to take officials to Brown, Princeton, and Yale next month,” O’Shea told us.  “I’m also going to visit Vermont, but it’s so close I’m not sure if that will be an official or unofficial.”

O’Shea also said that those four schools were his final list and that he didn’t anticipate considering any other school.

“There isn’t really any leader right now,” he said, “not until I take the visits.”

After taking those visits O’Shea hopes to make a decision before the beginning of the high school season.

Then it’s back to the business of leading Burlington to another state championship.  The Seahorses took the crown in O’Shea sophomore year and entered last year’s championship game with an undefeated record on the season before being upset by cross-town rival Rice Memorial.  But Burlington will be heavily favored to re-take the title this year as they have a clear star in O’Shea in addition to a talented a capable supporting cast.

O'Shea starred with Expressions Elite on the grassroots circuit for the past two years and was one of key contributors to the team's great run through last month's July live period.
