Odom Lands Big East Offer

Very few players helped themselves more during the month of July than Rod Odom.  Standing at 6’8” with the ball skills of a guard, Odom intrigued coaches from all levels with his ability to bring the ball up the floor and play what may be best described as a point forward type of role.

His recruitment went to a new level this weekend when he received his first high major scholarship offer from the Seton Hall Pirates (as was first reported by Adam Zagoria on zagsblog.net).  Seton Hall joins a list of schools that includes Harvard, William & Mary, and Pennsylvania to have extended offers.

It is easy to see from that list that Odom is a true student/athlete, whose strong work in the classroom should enable him to have his pick of some of the top academic institutions in the country.

In fact, because he is taking a rigorous schedule during the fall semester (Physics, AP English, AP World History, Latin 3, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus…ouch) the talented swingman will only be working out for college coaches four times this month and not taking any visits as of yet.

And while Seton Hall may be the first high major program to offer, there will be plenty of others traveling to the Middlesex School to get a glimpse of the 6’8” star.  So far Louisville, West Virginia, Georgetown, Stanford, Boston College, Rutgers, UMass, Xavier, George Washington, Davidson, Yale, Bucknell, Harvard, and Princeton have all committed to attending one of the workouts.
