Nunez Makes Pick

Notre Dame Prep produced their second big commitment in as many days early on Thursday evening when six-foot-eight swingman Angel Nunez made a verbal commitment to Louisville head coach Rick Pitino.

Louisville assistant coaches Steve Masiello and Tim Fuller were on the Fitchburg campus earlier in the day on Thursday to attend Notre Dame's open gym workout.

Nunez is a New York native who first arrived in New England at the beginning of last year when he transferred to the Winchendon School.  At the time, Nunez was coming off a breakout summer which saw him receive notable attention from a long list of high major schools.

He transferred to Notre Dame following the conclusion of last year's season and spent the better part of the AAU season running with the New York Gauchos.

Nunez' first year in New England has been charecterized more by potential than production as he obviously has a wealth of physical tools and basketball skills at his disposal but has nonetheless been unable to turn them into consistent production.  If he is ever able to put the pieces together for a consistent amount of time, his upside is tremendous.

Nunez becomes the fifth player to commit to Louisville in the class of 2011 joining Chane Behanan, Wayne Blackshear, Zach Price, and Ron Taylor.
