NMH’s Thompson Picks Columbia
Northfield Mount Hermon and New York Jayhawks senior Blair Thompson made a verbal commitment to Columbia on Sunday.
Thompson is a highly skilled big wing with terrific positional size at 6-foot-7 who specializes in shooting the ball from behind the three-point line.
His commitment brings him back home to New York City after having previously starred at Xavier High School in the city where he was totally under-the-radar before joining the Jayhawks and subsequently transferring to NMH for the 2020-21 academic year.
"Blair is a bucket. He is a three-level scorer who is a playmaker at six-foot-seven," NMH head coach John Carroll said. "He is an NYC native who has been playing the best basketball of his career this fall and is ready for a breakout season. Columbia is getting an impact player who should compete for Ivy League Rookie of the Year."
Thompson's commitment marks the 17th consecutive year that NMH has had a player commit to an Ivy League school.
He is also the second Jayhawks product to commit to Columbia in the last two years as he joins Liam Murphy.
