NMH Sends Another to the Ivy League
Peter McMillan is headed to Cornell. The California native committed on Monday, less than 24 hours after returning from an official visit to the defending Ivy League champions.
“I couldn’t be happier with my decision to go to Cornell,” he said. “My visit couldn’t have gone better. Everything about it was a great fit. When I was watching their practice, I could definitely see myself thriving in their system.”
NMH head coach John Carroll was quick to echo his forward’s enthusiasm.
“In my 8 years at NMH we’ve had well over 40 division I players, and I don’t think I’ve coached a player who was a better fit for a program than Pete is for Cornell,” he said. “He fits their system perfectly. He’s a skilled 6’7” kid who can shoot the ball, does all the multi-positional things that Cornell loves so much, and is an outstanding citizen.”
Producing Ivy League talent has become a bit of a special niche for the NMH basketball program. McMillan is already the third member of this year’s team to commit to a school in that conference, and the program’s 8th Ivy League product in the last three seasons. In fact, next season 5 of the 8 Ivy League Schools will have an NMH alum on their basketball roster.
“This is exactly why I made the decision to come to NMH,” McMillan said. “I wanted to have an opportunity to go to a place like Cornell and that’s exactly how it played out. I couldn’t be happier.”
McMillan is currently a post-graduate at Northfield Mount Hermon. He is originally from Los Angeles, California where he previously starred at the Brentwood School. He is the 4th member of the NMH team to commit to a division I school this year joining Mike Marra (Louisville), Andrew McCarthy (Brown), and Brian Fitzpatrick (Pennsylvania).
