NMH Guard Picks Dartmouth
Northfield Mount Hermon post-graduate guard Mike Fleming made a verbal commitment to Dartmouth on Monday morning.
Fleming visited Dartmouth’s campus officially this past weekend and chose the Big Green over Air Force and Wofford along with interest from several other Ivy League programs.
“I just really wanted to find the perfect combination of academics and basketball. That was the main reason why I came to NMH, Coach Carroll’s relationships with schools of that caliber,” the Illinois native said. “When I took my visit to Dartmouth I thought that was the best combination I could find and an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”
NMH head coach John Carroll said that Fleming has been one of the team’s best players this fall and raved of his competitiveness, leadership, outside shooting, and diligence in the weight room.
Fleming joins Jvonte Brooks, John Golden, and Tommy Carpenter to become the fourth NMH product to commit to Dartmouth in the last three years.
“I think the [Dartmouth] coaching staff is incredible,” Fleming said. “The fact that they’re trying to rebuild that program and win the Ivy League in the next couple of years is something that I can’t wait to be a part of.”
Northfield Mount Hermon has now sent a total of 18 players to the Ivy League in the last five years. Dartmouth and Harvard have both carried at least one NMH alum on their roster since 2007, and now both project to continue that trend until at least 2017.
