NHS’ Ramirez is D1 Bound
New Hampton School forward Juju Ramirez announced his commitment earlier this month to Northern Colorado, a Divison I school of the Big Sky Conference.
Ramirez, who is a Kansas native came to New Hampton in the fall of 2020. He made a successful transition into the NEPSAC Class AAA. This past season he averaged 15.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 50.4 % from the field. His performance led to him earning 2022 All-NEPSAC Class AAA Second Team honors.
“Juju is such a skilled big,” said New Hampton head coach Andrew Gale. “He has the ability to dribble, pass, and shoot at a high level. Smart defender that uses his IQ and angles to guard multiple positions. Juju was an unbelievable leader and teammate.”
“All Juju cares about is winning and he will do whatever is asked of him to do that. He has an extremely high ceiling because of all his tools. He’s also young for his class. With Juju’s work ethic and desire for greatness, I expect big things coming his way.”
Ramirez is the fourth member of New Hampton’s 2022 class to finalize their college plans, including being one of three players to accept a full athletic scholarship this month.
"JuJu’s skill set is built for our system as he’s a great shooter for a big forward, and he’s also very good at posting up mismatches," Northern Colorado head coach Steve Smiley.
