This week’s Notable Performances listing is by far the longest of the year as prep schools got back into action and some players are obviously starting to hit their mid-year stride. 

Rhode Island

Player of the Week – Andrew Chrabascz, Portsmouth High School: The sophomore forward continues to pour on the production.  He scored 30 points while grabbing 15 rebounds and blocking 3 shots but he saved the best for last as he drilled a 12 foot jumper with 0.5 seconds left on the clock to give his team a 53-52 win over West Warwick to maintain their perfect 9-0 start to the season.  Chrabascz started his week with a 27 point performance against Mt. Hope.

Player of the Week – Steven Glowiak, New Britain High School:  Glowiak cracked the 30 point plateau in both games this week.  First he had 31, including 7 three-pointers, in a 72-52 win over Hall.  Then later in the week he had 35 points and 8 three-pointers in a 86-65 win over Conard.

Player of the Week – Brian Moore, Norwell High School:  A relatively unknown player put up huge numbers this week in the MIAA as the senior center scored 29 points against Harwich on Tuesday and recorded a triple double on Wednesday with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in a 64-41 road win over Hingham.

Player of the Week – Gerard Coleman, Tilton School:  Coleman is starting the new year right where he left off in 2009.  Last weekend he scored 36 points on 15-24 shooting from the floor while also handing out 4 assists in an 87-65 win over Proctor Academy.  A night later he poured in 35 more points on 13 of 24 shooting, picked 6 steals, grabbed 5 rebounds, and handed out 5 assists in a win over Cushing.  Then on Wednesday Coleman exploded for 45 points while also collecting 5 assists, 4 steals, and 4 rebounds as Tilton fell one point shy of Winchendon 89-88.

Player of the Week – Evan Tullar, Spaulding High School:  The junior forward had his best game of the young season earlier this week when he came one pass short of a triple double.  Tullar finished with 25 points, 10 boards, and nine assists in a win over Colchester.

Player of the Week – Stephano Mancini, Falmouth High School: Mancini netted 22 points last Friday night while also chipping in with 5 assists and 5 steals to lead Falmouth to a 72-36 bashing of Wells.  On Tuesday Mancini etched his name into the record books by draining six three-pointers and scoring the 1000th point of his career in a 77-37 win over Wells.
