New England Recruiting Reports Fall Schedule
This upcoming Tuesday marks the beginning of the next contact period on the NCAA’s recruiting calendar. That means division I coaches will once again be out in full force scouring high schools and prep schools all over the country to find quality prospects.
But that is the only place you will find division I coaches this fall. According to NCAA legislation that was adopted for the first time three years ago, division I coaches are only allowed to evaluate players in their own high school gyms. That means they can’t be at showcases, fall leagues, or AAU tournaments. Furthermore, they can only watch players in their own school’s gym as long as the competitors are all students from that school. In other words, if kids from the next town are in the gym, division I coaches aren’t allowed to watch.
For many college coaches, prep schools are the big draw in the fall. And since New England is the base of prep school basketball in this country, hundreds of coaches will be making the trip to the northeast this month. The New England Recruiting Report will be doing the same as we will be traveling to all of the top hot spots including Brewster Academy, Bridgton Academy, Cushing Academy, Hotchkiss School, Lee Academy, Maine Central Institute, Marianapolis Prep, New Hampton School, Northfield Mount Hermon, Notre Dame Prep, Phillips Exeter Academy, Proctor Academy, South Kent School, St. Andrew’s School, St. Mark’s School, St. Thomas More School, Tilton School, Winchendon School, and Worcester Academy.
But we will also be making our way to as many local showcases, clinics, and fall leagues as possible. The two most notable showcases are the New England Elite 75 Showcase – Frosh/Soph Edition on September 27th at Boston University and the Hoop Mountain Fall Classic on October 3rd. Those events will have premium coverage including an event recap and multiple stories throughout the following days.
But we will also be on hand to do event recaps at several other events including: Hoop Group Top 100 on September 13th; the Rhode Island Breakers on September 21st; the Connecticut Top 50 on September 23rd; the Phenom Top 50 Camp on October 11th; DBA Fall League; and New Britain Fall League.
And hopefully many others!
