New 2017 Offers

Monday was the first day that college coaches were permitted to directly contact prospects in the national class of 2017 and that means the phones have been busy in the last few days with calls, texts, emails, facebook posts, direct messages on twitter and more.

Many of those contacts led to new scholarship offers for New England's rising junior class. Here's a rundown of what we've seen:

Hamidou Diallo, Woodstock Academy, New York Jayhawks – The ESPN 60 shooting guard scored new offers from Louisville, Indiana and North Carolina State. He had already landed offers from UConn, St. John’s, Wake Forest, Seton Hall, Iowa State, Minnesota, Providence, Temple and USC among others.

Kimani Lawrence, Cushing Academy, Expressions – Lawrence was another big winner of the first 24 hours of the contact period coming away with new offers from Miami, Xavier, Creighton and Wake Forest according to various sources. Providence, Rhode Island and St. Bonaventure had previously offered.

Tomas Murphy, Northfield Mount Hermon, New England Playaz – Northwestern, Xavier and Northeastern became the latest to join the line of schools to offer the last of the Murphy brothers. Maryland, Iowa, Rhode Island, Boston College and Florida were all previously on board.

Hasahn French, Commonwealth Academy, PSA Cardinals – French was another big winner of Monday’s action as he scored new offers from Minnesota and Nebraska, solidifying his status as a high-major prospect. Seton Hall, Providence, UMass and VCU are among those who previously offered.

Jarrod Simmons, Cushing Academy, Mass Rivals – Shaka Smart beat the rush by getting Simmons on the phone on Saturday and becoming the first high-major school to offer him a scholarship. Smart had previously offered Simmons during his time at VCU.

Jermaine Samuels, Rivers School, Expressions – Samuels also scored an offer from Miami on Monday. New England’s second ranked rising junior previously had UConn, Providence, Rhode Island and Villanova among others.

Tremont Waters, South Kent, New England Playaz – The 36th ranked player in the country, and third overall in New England according to ESPN, added Stanford to his list of offers this week. The Cardinals join Seton Hall, UConn, Wake Forest, Yale and Purdue.

Makai Ashton-Langford, Cushing Academy, Mass Rivals – New England’s other top point guard picked up a new offer from Georgia Tech on Monday. He had previous offers from Boston College, Providence, St. Bonaventure and DePaul.

Samuel Japhet-Mathias, Vermont Academy, PSA Cardinals – The best center in New England’s 2017 class, Japhet-Mathias added an offer from Oregon to a list that already included UConn, Georgetown, Clemson, Providence and UMass.

Aaron Wheeler, St. Andrew’s, New England Playaz – Rhode Island and Duquesne both extended offers to Wheeler on Monday while he heard from a variety of other mid to high-major programs.

Wabissa Bede, Cushing Academy, Mass Rivals – His huge spring continued as Rhode Island joined Providence and UMass in offering Bede a scholarship. He also holds invitations from Chattanooga, Bryant and New Hampshire.

Kellan Grady, Northfield Mount Hermon, New England Playaz – Towson and Iona joined a list of offers that already included Rhode Island, Richmond, Northeastern, Brown, Dartmouth and Boston University.

Walter Whyte, St. Luke’s, High Rise Elite – His breakout spring continued as Boston University joined a list of offers that includes VCU, Towson, Sacred Heart, Binghamton and San Diego.

Jerome Desrosiers, Northfield Mount Hermon, New England Playaz – Boston University offered Desrosiers on Monday. The Canadian native picked up offers from Baylor and Illinois during his freshman season at NMH.
