NEPSAC Champions Crowned
The NEPSAC crowned champions in all six classes on Sunday and while this year didn't provide central locations where all finals could be seen in order, the home court advantage did provide for some passionate atmospheres.
In Class AAA, Brewster Academy defeated Northfield Mount Hermon School 79-61 after defeating Bridgton Academy in the semifinals a day earlier. Matas Buzelis led a balanced attack with 18 points while Reed Bailey and Dastone Bowen added 11 and 10 respectively.
In AA, Worcester Academy knocked off Bradford Christian Academy 85-83 after a go-ahead three from seneior guard Dan Becil with just four seconds left on the clock.
In class A, Hotchkiss defeated Belmont Hill 65-62 to win their first NEPSAC championship in program history. Brandon McReesh was named MVP after averaging 22 points per game in the three play-off games while Nosa Okunbo pulled down a program record 18 rebounds in the final.
In Class B, the Rivers School went on the road at top seeded Canterbury and scored a 73-61 upset win to capture their NEPSAC crown. Drew Martin led the way with 19 points while Amir Lindsey and Max Poulton added 11 and 10 respectively.
