NEHF u12 Championship Belongs to CBC

CBC’s twelve-and-under team made an immediate statement at the Northeast Hoops Festival, standing out on Friday night.

Well they were able to carry it through the remainder of the weekend as they walked away as champions after defeating the Connecticut Mavericks in the final.

As was the story on Friday night, it was two young ladies who led the way for CBC as Desiree Elmore and Dejane “Snoop” James shined from start to finish.

James is the best girl in the state according to her coach and we don’t doubt it as she was magnificent running the show for CBC and making plays all weekend long.  But apparently this is just more of the same for James as her teams have reportedly come away with state championships every year.

As for Elmore, this is a young lady with a super high upside.  Only 11 years old, her team was a perfect 37-0 last year thanks to her tremendous inside-out skill set, and this is obviously just the beginning as Elmore is long, lefty, and very skilled.

Not to be outdone, Shaquana Edwards was also holding her own playing with the boys.  Another 11 year old playing up, Edwards is a superb ball-handler and tremendously hard worker.

KeAndre Fair did double duty last weekend with the u12 and u13 teams and came away with two championships as he started in the backcourt for both teams because of his ability to be a coach on the floor.

Speaking of guards, Kenny Jernigan is a chip off the old block when it comes to the Jernigan family as he is Anthony’s first cousin and equally talented with the basketball.

Another guy with a crazy handle is J.C. Martin who earned all-tournament recognition at the recent Atlantic City Shootout presented by Basketball Spotlight.

With all the dribble drivers on board CBC saw quite a bit of zone defense thrown at them this weekend and Milan Williams was the long distance sniper they used to bust those zones up.

Chris Rose is another crucial role player because of his pesky defense on the other end of the floor.

Down low, Ismial Charles is the anchor for CBC.  A six-foot fifth grader, he has huge potential considering the fact that he is in only his first season of organized basketball, and when you consider his dad is 6’9”, he is certainly a guy to keep an eye on.

Chaylyn Martin (J.C.’s brother) is a versatile and talented post player who is a terrific rebounder with a very soft touch.

Put all of those pieces together and you had the u12 champions at the Northeast Hoops Festival.
