NCAA Clears Ajou
Chier Ajou's June commitment to Northwestern took many people by surprise.
Ajou, who spent two years at Culver Academies in Indiana after coming to the United States from the South Sudan, was widely considered to be a probable non-qualifier by the time he arrived at St. Thomas More last year.
Consequently, he didn't see nearly the level of recruitment that a player of his size and talent typically dictates.
Northwestern chose to take a gamble by signing the seven-foot-two center in June. On Thursday, they received word that their gamble paid off when the NCAA ruled Ajou eligible for the upcoming 2012-2013 college basketball season.
The seven-foot-two center will be the tallest player to ever wear a Northwestern uniform when the season gets under way this fall.
