National Prep Showcase Preview
The National Prep Showcase, which annually serves as the unofficial kick-off to the prep school basketball season, will return to New Haven, Connecticut and Albertus Magnus College beginning tomorrow, Friday November 22nd, and running through Sunday November 24th.
The field features the vast majority of the top post-graduate programs in the country including all six of the last National Prep School Champions dating back to 2007 in Brewster Academy (NH), St. Thomas More School (CT), Tilton School (NH), Hargrave Military (VA), Northfield Mount Hermon School (MA) and Notre Dame Prep (MA). Other top programs in attendance include South Kent School (CT), Massanutten Academy (VA), Fishburne Military Academy (VA), New Hampton School (NH), Wilbraham & Monson Academy (MA), St. John’s Northwest Military Academy (WI), Vermont Academy (VT), Fork Union Military Academy (VA), Bridgton Academy (ME), Elev-8 Academy (FL), Our Savior New American (NY), and Kiski School (PA). This year’s event will also mark the debut of the Canarias Basketball Academy, the most prestigious basketball academy in all of Europe.
With an alumni list that includes a variety of NBA players like Tyreke Evans, Michael Beasley, and Andre Drummond, the 2013 National Prep Showcase will once again feature some of the top individual talent in the country. Future college basketball stars in action will include: Blair Academy’s Marial Shayok (Marquette); Brewster Academy’s Isaac Copeland (Georgetown) and Jared Terrell (Oklahoma State), Cushing Academy’s Kaleb Joseph (Syracuse); Fishburne Military Academy’s Jabari Craig (USC) and Robert Harris III (Kansas St); Hargrave Military Academy’s Donte Grantham (Clemson); Massanutten Academy’s Dwayne Foreman (Rutgers); New Hampton’s Tory Miller (Colorado) and Tyler Lydon (Syracuse); Notre Dame Prep’s Daxter Miles (West Virginia); Our Savior New America’s Damon Wilson (Pittsburgh); St. John’s NW Military Academy’s Ray Kasongo (Oregon); and Wilbraham and Monson Academy’s Goodluck Okonoboh (UNLV) and Max Hoeztel (Indiana), in addition to a host of other unsigned prospects.
This year’s event also includes an unprecedented amount of underclassmen talent. Our Savior New American big man Cheick Diallo is ranked among the top 10 juniors in the country while New Hampton’s A.J. Turner and Jeremy Miller, Tilton’s Terance Mann, Brewster’s Donovan Mitchell and Jarred Reuter, Northfield Mount Hermon’s Josh Sharma and Aaron Falzon, and Cushing Academy’s Jalen Adams have also been ranked among the top prospects in the national class of 2015.
The event also features two of the top sophomores in the country in Our Savior New American big man Kassoum Yakwe and Wilbraham and Monson Academy guard Mustapha Heron, a Connecticut native.
Another Connecticut native, South Kent point guard Tremont Waters, is widely projected to be among the top freshmen in the entire country as well.
