National Prep Showcase Begins Friday
The National Prep Showcase is coming to New Haven, Connecticut this year and the intimate campus of Albertus Magnus College.
Once again the event welcomes virtually all of the top prep school programs in the country in addition to a wide assortment of uniquely talented individuals.
All of the top five teams in the first ESPN poll are set to be in action this weekend as well as nine of the top ten teams in the country. ESPN released the poll on Thursday along with a preview of the event.
The action gets underway at 12 noon on Friday as St. Thomas More takes on Lee Academy in an all New England clash. The nation’s top sophomore Andre Drummond will surely draw a crowd of college coaches and fans alike as the Connecticut native plays in front of the hometown crowd.
Other marquee match-ups on Friday include a match-up between two of the nation’s top four teams as #1 Hargrave Military Academy from Virginia faces off against #4 Notre Dame Prep from Massachusetts. This will certainly be a monumental clash as a whopping 8 players from this game have already committed to high major conferences.
The action will continue at a wild pace throughout the rest of the weekend. Saturday’s action will tip at 9am with the final game of the day scheduled for an 8pm beginning. Sunday gets underway at 10am and will wrap up with a 6:30pm contest.
Tickets will be available at the door throughout the weekend and anyone who shows a valid student I.D. will receive half price admission. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see what ESPN.com refers to as a “must-see event”. Last year’s event drew over 200 college coaches and this year’s promises to be just as good with over 30 media credentials and NBA scouting passes having already been distributed.
