Nate Guerengomba Commits to UMass
Last weekend, South Kent School/PSA Cardinals 2024 6’5” small forward Nate Guerengomba committed to UMass for the 2024-25 season. He also received offers from Samford, NJIT, Rhode Island, New Mexico State, Seton Hall, Maryland, Rutgers, Iona, Missouri, Iowa, Virginia Tech, and more.
Guerengomba came to South Kent from the DMV area following the 20-21 season, where he competed for St. John’s College HS, one of the top high school powerhouses of the region.
Last summer, after his first season with South Kent, Guerengomba transferred to Link Academy in Branson, MO, a team that has recently been ranked first overall nationally among the top prep teams. However, after a short time at Link, he decided to transfer back to South Kent before the start of the season. He went on to help lead South Kent to a NEPSAC Class-AAA Championship, defeating the 2022 reigning champions from Brewster Academy in the finals.
Guerengomba’s success continued with the PSA Cardinals in the spring. Through April and May, he received recognition for his performance at the second, third, and fourth EYBL sessions, earning a spot on The Circuit’s list of 2023 Nike EYBL Session II Top Performers, Session III Top Performers, and Session IV Top Performers.
Throughout the summer, Guerengomba kept earning honors for his play. In June, he was named to the Cream of the Crop Game at the 2023 Pangos All-American Camp. He once again received recognition for his performance at an EYBL event in July, earning a spot on The Circuit’s list of 2023 Nike EYBL Peach Jam Top Performers. Later that month, he also earned a spot on MadeHoops’ list of standouts from the 2023 Marquee Hoops Summer Jam.
Around this same time, he finally received his offer from UMass.
Nate Guerengomba hadn’t been in New England long before getting onto the radars of some of the top regional programs. It comes as no surprise that we will see him compete at the Division I level.
