Musiime-Kamali Moving on to Akron Next
Cushing Academy & Middlesex Magic forward Marvin Musiime-Kamali announced his commitment yesterday afternoon to Akron.
Musiime-Kamali began his high school career at Thayer Academy. He was an integral part of a Tigers team in the 2019-20 season, earning an Honorable Mention All Independent School League selection.
Losing his next season due to COVID-19 Pandemic signaled reclassification into 2023 as his next move. This led to him transferring to Cushing in the fall of 2021. Musiime-Kamali’s first season for the Penguins was a success. He was a starter for a 20 win team and selected to the All-NEPSAC AA team.
His first experience on a shoe circuit happened this past AAU season. Musiime-Kamali was part of a Middlesex Magic squad that won the Under Armour Spring Championship and 34 games overall.
“Marvin is the highest character leader and student-athlete you will find,” said Cushing head coach James Cormier. He aims to win every workout, sprint, drill, and game while taking the same mentality in the classroom. Marvin will be a long term asset to Akron Men’s Basketball and the University at large.”
"Having Marvin join our program was amazing because he is an outstanding person, leader, and teammate," said Middlesex Magic head coach Michael Crotty. "In addition to that, he is an amazing basketball player and athlete while being a key piece to our 34-4 Under Armour Association team. He did a great job guarding Elmarko Jackson in our spring championship game that we won as well. I believe Marvin will have a chance to make an early impact at Akron."
Musiime-Kamali becomes the fourth member of Cushing’s 2023 class who has finalized their plans to play division one college basketball next fall.
