Murphy Transferring to NMH
Northfield Mount Hermon put the finishing touches on their 2014-2015 roster on Tuesday afternoon with a big announcement from New England’s top ranked rising sophomore.
Tomas Murphy confirmed to the New England Recruiting Report that he would, in fact, be transferring to NMH for the upcoming school year.
“I’m very excited for the opportunity to play at Northfield,” Murphy told the New England Recruiting Report. “I think it will help me a lot as a player and as a person.”
The six-foot-eight big man starred at the Prout School near his family’s home in Rhode Island during his freshman season and is set to remain in the 2017 class upon arriving in the prep ranks next season.
Murphy was in St. Louis last week for the Nike Elite One Hundred, an invitation only event for the one best underclassmen in the country as determined by Nike Grassroots Basketball. Murphy was one of just 33 rising sophomores to make the field.
He’ll join a NMH team that is returning the vast majority of their line-up from last season and now appears set to feature one of New England’s best frontcourts for years to come.
Murphy is likely to play a supportive role in his first season when Josh Sharma, Aaron Falzon, and Collin McManus will all be seniors, but he’ll be ready to step into a central role the following season as he returns with A.J. Brodeur and Jerome Desrosiers along the frontline.
