Murphy Cuts List to Seven

St. Mark's junior Alex Murphy trimmed his list to seven schools last week -- Arizona, BC, Duke, Florida, Kansas, North Carolina and West Virginia.

Butler, Syracuse, Texas, and Villanova are now gone from the preliminary list he released earlier this fall.

Murphy confirmed the news but said he has no timetable as to when he will further cut his list or make his final decision.

The 6-foot-9 swingman is the No. 7-ranked player in the Class of 2012 and the top ranked small forward in the country by ESPN.com.

The St. Mark's School held two open gyms this fall that were among the most highly attended workouts in the country. Six of the seven head coaches (all but Arizona) who remain on Murphy's list were on hand for the final workout.

St. Mark's will tip off their 2010-2011 season at the upcoming National Prep Showcase where they will take on Lee Academy on Saturday, November 20th.
