Expressions Elite head coach Tyron Boswell announced on Friday that Tyrique Jones will be transferring from Bloomfield High School in Connecticut to Vermont Academy and reclassifying to 2016 in the process.
Jones is a six-foot-seven forward who adds to an already talented young core in the rising junior class with Sedee Keita, K.J. Santos, Christian Vital, and Bruce Brown.
Jones is a long and athletic four-man with developing inside-out tools who will join Keita to form one of the most athletic and talented frontcourt tandems in Class AA.
He’ll replace Tyler Jackson, the seven-foot-two rising senior center who is now expected to transfer to South Kent next year, according to various reports from last week.
Jackson is an absolute mountain of a man whose size immediately changes the complexity of the game. He’ll be ideally suited to plug the middle of South Kent’s 2-3 zone where he’ll provide a constant deterrent for opposing drivers.
In other prep school news, East Catholic (CT) senior forward Tyrell Arnum is heading to Salisbury school for a post-graduate season according to Salisbury head coach Jeff Ruskin.
Arnum led East Catholic to the CIAC Class M state championship this season, scoring 26 points while pulling down 16 rebounds in a win over Weaver High School from Mohegan Sun. He was also selected to play in the CHSCA All-Star game where he scored 13 points in the Class M/S game.
