“Ming” to Marist

Marist head coach Chuckie Martin just landed a big commitment (in more ways than one) from New England.  Naofall Folahan committed to the Red Foxes on Tuesday night after a very successful summer on the live circuit.

Folahan first played to rave reviews this summer at the Hoop Group Elite Camp where he was the first big man selected in the draft and went on to earn a selection in the top 20 all-star game.  A day later he again earned all-star status at the New England Elite 75 Showcase.

For the rest of the summer, “Ming” ran with his New England Playaz team on the grassroots circuit as they made stops in Massachusetts, Connecticut, West Virginia, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles.

Following him along that route was Martin and his staff, who made the big man a priority after seeing him early in the month.

At the moment, “Ming” is a player who impacts the game with his size, mobility, and athleticism.  He blocks shots, dunks in traffic, and changes ends of the floor effortlessly.  But the most exciting thing about him isn’t what he is now, it is what he could be down the road.  He has tremendous upside and could eventually be a major contributor in the MAAC as he continues to learn the game.

Folahan spent last season at Notre Dame Prep but has since transferred to Wilbraham & Monson Academy where he projects to be a dominant big man in the league.
