Marello D2 Bound

Worcester Academy post-graduate Ben Marello accepted an athletic scholarship from Henderson State, a division II school in Arkansas, signing his National Letter of Intent on Thursday.

The Florida native opted to return to the southeast despite holding other full scholarship offers from division II schools in the northeast.

"Ben felt comfortable with his visit and was happy with the opportunity," Worcester Academy head coach Jamie Sullivan said. "He is looking forward to starting the next chapter in his career."

Marello's lone season in New England was a productive one as he established himself as a critical part of the Hilltopper's frontcourt rotation.

The highly skilled six-foot-six forward has a feathery shooting touch, both from behind the three-point line as well as pulling up off the dribble in the mid-range area.

He joins Patrick Benzan (Holy Cross) and James Loring (WPI) to become the 3rd member of this year's Worcester team to finalize his plans for next season. The Hilltoppers have two other scholarship caliber players still available in Jeff Spellman and Nick Pasquale.
