Maine Adds Local Prep Product
The University of Maine has announced that Christian Ejigba has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the men's basketball team in the fall.
The six-foot-nine two-hundred-and-thirty pound big man from Nigeria played for the Hyde School in Woodstock, Connecticut for the last two seasons. He led the Wolfpack to the 2012 NEPSAC Class C Championship and averaged over 16 points and 8 rebounds during the course of his career.
"We are very excited to have Christian join our basketball team for the fall," said head coach Ted Woodward. "Christian provides us a physical front-court presence at 6-9, 230. He can score facing the basket, back to the basket, and has the potential to be a high-level defensive and rebounding force from the interior."
Ejigba spent the majority of his career flying under the radar, but landed soe late recruitment after a series of strong performances on the AAU circuit with United Sons and Daughters during the April Live period.
While Ejigba has some clear potential on the offensive end, his most immediate contributions could very well come on the defensive end of the floor.
"He plays with great passion, and is a very versatile player with skills, size and strength, and tremendous potential," Woodward said. "Coach Tom Bragg and the staff at the Hyde School have done an outstanding job preparing him for the next level academically and athletically. They are a first-class organization."
"Christian is an excellent student and person, and he will be a great addition to the campus environment here at Maine. He is a wonderful addition to our freshmen class for the fall."
