Lubick Makes Early Pick

At the midpoint of his high school career Eli Lubick has finalized his college plans.

The rising junior made a verbal commitment to Colgate earlier this weekend, rougly ten days after visiting the school for their elite camp.

"It was just the whole weekend...," Lubick said.  "All of the coaches were very inviting, I had a really good connection with Coach Snyer, I loved the campus.  Everything about it was great."

With still two years to go before the completion of his high school career, Lubick realizes his commitment comes earlier than most expected, but insists he won't be changing his mind.

"Even if I had an opportunity to play in a higher rated conference Colgate would be the place I wanted to go."

A six-foot-three swingman with a lethal jumper from behind the three-point line, a high basketball I.Q., and his family's trademark toughness, Eli is a chip off the old block following in the footsteps of his father, St. Mark's head coach Dave Lubick, and older brother Nate Lubick, who will be a freshman at Georgetown in the fall.

Eli has been a two sport star in the first half of his high school athletics career, standing out on the gridiron as well as the hardwood, but only recently decided to dedicate himself to pursuing basketball at the college level.

Colgate is one of the top twenty liberal arts colleges in the country according to the U.S. News and World Report and the only Patriot League school to hold that distinction.
