Loomis’ Santos ACC Bound
Loomis Chaffee senior Nate Santos made a verbal commitment to Pittsburgh on Tuesday night before confirming his decision on Wednesday.
Santos is an Illinois native who spent the last three years at the Connecticut prep school.
He came back from an ACL injury to help the Pelicans to their first NEPSAC Class A championship last year and then the pandemic hit, taking away the opportunity to star with New Heights in the Under Armour Association.
That, in addition to the fact that Loomis wasn't able to play games until late in the season, put Santos' recruitment in a state of flux, but there was no denying his talent.
"I'm so proud of Nate. In three years at Loomis he has shown tremendous growth bothon and off the court," said said head Rock Battistoni. "A member of the Class A and Founders League champions, two-time All-NEPSAC selection, Pitt is getting a young man who can score at all three levels and has the defensive versatility to be successful in the ACC."
Santos averaged 17.5 points and 6.5 rebounds as a junior last year and put up 29 points and 8 rebounds per game in the team's three contests this season.
