Loomis’ Gardner D1 Bound

New England Recruiting Report | Sunday, November 6th, 2016

Loomis Chaffee School post-graduate Reggie Gardner made a verbal commitment to North Carolina Central University on Friday.

Located in Durham (NC), UNC Central is a division I school competing in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).

Gardner graduated from DeMatha Catholic last year, the storied high school program in Maryland, where he was known primarily as a three-point shooter and strong contributor off the bench. During that time he played alongside Markelle Fultz, the current Washington freshman expected to be a one-and-done lottery pick, as well as Notre Dame bound senior D.J. Harvey.

Since arriving at Loomis though, he's been showing a much more versatile offensive repetoire during fall open gyms with a quick first step and a good pull-up game to compliment his well-known three-point range.

Gardner is capable of playing either guard position, has good quickness and athleticism, and has quickly emerged as a leader on this year's Loomis team.

His commitment also makes him the first Loomis Chaffee product to earn a division I scholarship since Sean McCarthy committed to NJIT in 2009.
