Lewis Signs with Canisius

Fishburne Military School post-graduate Zach Lewis was one of the best available guards at this weekend’s National Prep Showcase, but he didn’t remain available for long as the Connecticut native signed a National Letter of Intent with Canisius on Monday.

A graduate of Northwest Catholic High School, Lewis earned all-state honors on two separate occasions and averaged 22 points per game as a senior.

Lewis initially made a verbal commitment to Hofstra last year before opting for a post-graduate year.

He joins six-foot-six forward Jermaine Crumpton and six-foot-four swingman Adam Weir in Canisius’ incoming recruiting class.

“We are very pleased to add these three young men to our program,” head coach Jim Baron said. “We are going to need to replace four seniors next season, so we knew we needed to go out and find some players that can help us fill a void, and I believe that’s what we have.”

Lewis scored 13 points for Fishburne in Friday night’s win over Northfield Mount Hermon and followed that up with an 18 point effort against St. Thomas More on Saturday.
