Ledo Pushes Back Decision

Thursday was supposed to be the day that Ricardo Ledo finally put his recruitment to bed.

He had a press conference scheduled for that afternoon in which he would choose between Providence, Syracuse, Connecticut, West Virginia, and Kentucky.

The Providence Journal's Kevin McNamara reported on Wednesday morning what many had already suspected, that Ledo would be committing to the hometown Friars for the second time.

But those plans are apparently now on hold now as the press conference has been cancelled and Ledo's decision pushed back.

“The worst thing is for him [Ledo] to rush into any decision,” Notre Dame Prep head coach Ryan Hurd told McNamara. “It’s important for Ricky to get back to campus, get a grip on where his academics and recruitment all stands, and look forward to an important year.”

Ledo made an initial commitment to Providence on Christmas Eve of last year, only to re-open his recruitment a couple of months later.  He was on PC's campus last week alongside Kris Dunn, who became the first player to commit to new head coach Ed Cooley in 2012 and arguably the biggest commitment the Friars' program has seen in the last fifteen years.

“The athletic piece has taken care of itself,” Hurd said. “Ricky has to stay 100 percent focused on the academic piece in order to put himself in the best position to be successful.”
