Justin Johnson Commits to Arkansas State

This past weekend, Putnam Science Academy/SOH Elite 6’8” wing Justin Johnson announced his commitment to Arkansas State for the 2024-25 season.

Johnson transferred to New England last summer, when he announced that he would be joining back-to-back and 4x National Prep Champions Putnam Science Academy for the next stage of his journey.

He was a standout throughout November and December, earning Zero Gravity Prep Classic All-Tournament First Team honors for his performance at the ZGPC.

This continued into January, as he led Putnam Science with 19 points in a big NEBL win over Cushing Academy at the HoopHall Prep Showcase. He also dropped an incredible 32 points on 5/8 from deep later the same month in another big NEBL victory over Bradford Christian.

Ultimately, Putnam Science Academy took both the Power 5-AAA Championship and the NEBL Championship, though they fell short of completing the National Prep Championship three-peat, losing to Western Reserve Academy in the finals.

Justin Johnson earned an incredible amount of recognition throughout the season, as he was ultimately named to both the Power 5-AAA All-League Team and the All-NEBL First Team following the end of the season.

He earned perhaps the highest honor of his year around the same time, as he was named All-Power 5-AAA Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season as a whole.

It will be exciting to follow one of New England’s top 2024 recruits in Justin Johnson as he takes his talents to Arkansas State for the next chapter of his career
