Junior Elite Camp - Celtics
Today we turn our attention to the NBA East, which featured rising 9th graders in addition to a handful of younger players, as we continue to take a look back at the Hoop Mountain Junior Elite Camp. The Celtics lived up to their team name, proving themselves a talented bunch.
Top Prospects
Matt Torrey, 6’2”, PF, Celtics - Matt Torrey is a well built, powerful forward who can play inside and out. He has the strength to bang inside, but also possesses a budding face up game and is becoming more and more comfortable putting the ball on the floor.
John Conry, 5’5”, PG, Celtics - Conry was one of the best pure point guards in the camp. He ran his teams offense to perfection and made the players around him better.
Kyle Dokus, 6’4”, C, Celtics - Kyle is a long, tall post player who runs the floor very well. He’s active around the rim and racks up points on putbacks and is a headache for opposing post players. Dokus also does a great job altering shots around the rim with his length and instincts.
Others Who Impressed
Jesse Levines, 5’9”, SG, Celtics - Jesse is a shooting guard with 3 Point Range who moves well off the ball. He knocked down several treys in the Friday evening session and shows promise as a shooter in his upcoming high school career.
Joe Buckley, 6’2”, SF, Celtics - Buckley is a vocal and active defender who does a great job communicating with his teammates. He is a gritty hustle player who is willing to fight for a loose ball and be aggressive defending on the ball. Offensively, he uses his strength to get into the lane and attack the rim.
Will Ferreira, 5’5”, SG, Celtics - Ferreira is a tough, scrappy combo guard who does the little things to help his team win. In the Thursday evening session, Ferriera grabbed a key rebound and hit a three on the ensuing possession in the fourth quarter of a tight game against the Knicks to help lead his team to a victory.
Brad Capace, 5’11”, SF, Celtics - Brad plays inside and out at the small forward position. He stretches the defense with his 3 point shooting ability and does a good job sneaking out in transition to pick up easy layups.
Pat Lindner, 5’11”, SF, Celtics - Pat is a tremendous offensive rebounder who runs the floor hard in transition. He is an extremely unselfish kid and a quietly good passer who looks to set up his teammates for easy baskets.
Zach Levine, 5’10”, SG, Celtics - Zach is a young guard with a high basketball IQ who moves well without the ball and moves the ball well with teammates in the half court. On the defensive end, he is a hard worker who takes pride in not letting his man score.
Mac Kearns, 5’5”, PG, Celtics - Mac Kearns is a hard-nosed, tough minded player who took a blow to the chin Friday afternoon, but stayed in the game and sunk three key free throws in the fourth quarter of a Celtics victory.
