Joshua DeCady Commits to Hofstra

Last week, Kimball Union Academy/Crown HGSL 2024 6’8” forward Joshua DeCady announced his commitment to Hofstra.

He also received offers from Bryant, Maine, Merrimack, New Hampshire, Fairfield, Manhattan, Northern Illinois, Stony Brook, DePaul, Binghamton, Iona, Robert Morris, Northeastern, North Carolina A&T, Loyola MD, St. Bonaventure, Le Moyne, George Mason, Chattanooga, Quinnipiac, and Old Dominion.

DeCady’s high school career was successful from the start, as he helped lead Archbishop Molloy to a 2020 CHSAA Class AA Freshman Championship. He continued seeing success with the Stanners, winning a Big Apple Summer Slam Varsity Division Tournament Championship during the summer before his third and final year with the team.

The following summer, DeCady transferred to Kimball Union Academy and reclassified to the class of 2024 for last season.

He played a huge role in his first season with the team last year, as he was one of only two players from the squad to earn All-NEPSAC Class-AA Honorable Mention, and one of only ten 2024s from any school to earn the recognition.

DeCady returns to Kimball Union this year for his final high school season, but his future is already set, as he will be heading back to Long Island to begin his Division I career at Hofstra University.

“I want to thank God for putting me in this position,” said DeCady in speaking with NERR. “I want to thank the Hofstra coaching staff for giving me this great opportunity to play the game I love at the highest level,” he continued. “I also want to thank my parents who supported me throughout this process. Also my coaches who developed and believed in me.”

It will be exciting to track DeCady’s progress over the next few years competing in the CAA with the Hofstra Pride.
