Jones Joining Xavier

New England Recruiting Report | Monday, June 29th, 2015

Vermont Academy rising senior Tyrique Jones made a verbal commitment to Xavier on Monday following an official visit to their campus over the weekend.

The 6-foot-8 power forward announced his decision via twitter saying, "I am proud to announce that I am the newest member of the Xavier basketball team! Go X. #Musketerrnation"

Jones began his career at Bloomfield High School in Connecticut before transferring to Vermont and repeating his junior year just prior to the 2014-2015 school year.
His recruitment has increased dramatically in that time as well with offers coming in from the likes of Florida State, Cincinnati, Texas Tech, Connecticut, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Auburn, Kansas State, Temple, Boston College, Providence, UMass, Rhode Island, VCU and Minnesota among others.
A powerful athlete with an ability to elevate in traffic, Jones' best attribute is his ability to rebound the ball and that's something that he projects capable of doing from day one in the Big East.
His offensive game remains a work in progress but he has deceptively good footwork from the mid-post and can also put the ball on the floor from that range as well.
