John Clemmons Commits to Delaware State

This past week, 2024 6’6” wing John Clemmons II of The Winchendon School’s NEPSAC-AA squad committed to the Delaware State Hornets for the next chapter of his career…

Clemmons actually made his way to New England from Delaware, where he competed for Caravel Academy, regularly charting scoring performances in the 20s and 30s and earning numerous standout and MVP showcase honors for multiple years leading up to his graduation.

However, early this past June, Clemmons decided to take one more year to prepare for the college level, announcing that he would be taking his talents to Winchendon, MA to join Head Coach Kevin Kehoe and the Wapiti of The Winchendon School to compete in the elite NEPSAC Class-AA.

This past summer, Clemmons competed on the Prep Hoops Circuit with NEBC, collecting a plethora of honors and recognitions for his regular standout performances at events. He also impressed at the NEPSAC Basketball Showcase later that same June in his Winchendon and NEPSAC debut.

His success has continued into the regular season, receiving the offer from Delaware State this past November, which was his first from the Division I level.

Clemmons has also put on some stellar performances, tallying a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds at the Scholar Roundball Classic in a tight contest with powerhouse Bradford Christian this past December.

“JC has been a lightning rod for our team on and off the floor,” said Winchendon Associate Head Coach Phil Simplicio. “He’s an old-school player who brings toughness and aggression to the court every day.”

More recently, Clemmons dropped 16 points at the HoopHall Prep Showcase in another close battle with Northfield Mt. Hermon, leading the game with 8 rebounds.

“His ability to score at all three levels makes him a difficult cover on any team we play,” Simplicio continued. “We as a coaching staff are thrilled with his commitment to Delaware State!“

It will be exciting to track the career of John Clemmons II as he heads to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference to compete as a Delaware State Hornet…
